He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Hiipakka and Helen Tautvidaus Hiipakka; his brothers, David and Gerald Hiipakka; and his sister-in-law Diana Hiipakka.

He is survived by: his wife Susanne Reis Hiipakka; his son Justin Thomas Hiipakka of Cabot; his siblings, Roy Hiipakka, Richard Hiipakka (Cheryl), Karen Canavan (Ken) and Sandra Greenspan (Elliott); and his siblings-in-law, Gina Hiipakka, Petra Roser and Bruce Przybilla (Lena). He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
