He was predeceased by: his parents, Mae Fransis Cranford-Calahan and Albert Calahan; his aunt Bessie L Jenkins; his siblings, Jerry Calahan, Billy Ray Calahan, Bernice Delores Calahan-Clary, James Frederick Calahan and Juanita Yvette Calahan; his son Malcom M. Calahan; and his sister-in-law Sandra Porchia (Renee Vanhook).
He is survived by: his spouse Sheron Steward-Calahan; his sons, Idris J. Calahan (Summer) of Handover, Thomas J. McIntyre of Little Rock, AR and Ulrica Steward-Hawkins (Jeffery); and his grandson Rashaad J. Calahan of Handover Maryland.
Calahan also founded the Camden Chapter of the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.
