He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Shores and Cecil Shores. He is survived by: his wife Lois Irene Shores; his children, Don Shores Jr. (Kathy) of Sioux Falls, Brenda Shores of Cave Springs, Cherryl Bassing (Tim) of Lake City and Gary Shores (Sheryl) of Cave Springs, Arkansas; and his brother Eddy Shores. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
