He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Garrett and Vernie Garrett (Dodson); and his son Denny Garrett. He is survived by: his wife Betty Garrett; his children, Doris Jones (Bill) of Cedarville, Susan Kay Garrett (Rodney) of Olivehurst, CA, Melissa L. Cummins (Lester) of Van Buren, Inez Boyd of Van Buren, Jewell Mattingly (Darrell) of Van Buren, Lenell Dye of Van Buren, Clifta Sutton of Fairmont, MN and Donny Garrett (Becky) of Van Buren; and his sister Joyce Upton of Alabama. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren, and forty-three great-grandchildren.
