He was predeceased by: his parents, J. D. Smith and Madaline Smith; his grandson Tyler Mitchell; and his sister-in-law Virginia Smith. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Smith; his sons, James "Jamie" Smith (Stacey) of Arkansas and Chad Smith (Alison) of Arkansas; his grandchildren, Jaxon Smith of Arkansas and Megan Fuller of Oklahoma; and his siblings, Robert Smith of Texas, Alan Smith (Nancy) of Texas and Jaáde Larzarte (Michael) of Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
