He was predeceased by : his parents, L. H. "Howell" Ford and Cassie Elizabeth Ford (Hanshew); his daughter Becky Bell; and his brothers, Leon Ford, George Ford and Thyron Ford.

He is survived by : his wife Reba Ford; his son David Edward Ford Jr. (Yoko); his adoptive son David Douglas Ford; and his grandchildren, Kelly Gregory (Darrell), Dawnya Parr (Jim), Jessica Cato (Philip), Ethan Bell (Heather), Adam Ford (Celeste Mei), Alex Ford and J. R. Bell. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, family members and friends.
