He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Duncan and Ruby Duncan. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Duncan; his children, Patrick Starkey and Sandra Moore; his stepchildren, Buck Howard, Jack Howard, Hoss Howard, Pamela Moore and Sandy Thomas; and his brothers, T. L. Thompson and Mike Duncan. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, numerous other relatives, and friends.
