He was predeceased by: his parents, Lance Lott Brown and Maude Eugina Thomas; his wife Nellie Jo Phillips; his children, Clara Taylor and Shelby Gus Brown Jr.; and his siblings, Ivan Brown, William Eugene Brown, Geneva Russell, Florence Whaley and Viola Ralph.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Dollins, Mary Ann Sauls, Carolyn Whaley, Jamie Brown (Fozetta), Willie Garrett, Nancy Easter, Ricky Phillips, Debbie Brown and Brenda Gail Underwood; his close friend Pam Merritt; and his brother Jim Brown. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fowler and Sons Funeral Home (16984 Old Hwy 67, Neelyville, MO 63954). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
