He was predeceased by: his parents, Arrie Govan Sr. and Teresa Smedley Govan; his wife Colene Mary Govan; his siblings, Donell, Vernon, Lovell Govan and Ira Faye Henry; his niece Leslie Govan; and his grandchildren, Tanettra Perkins, Julius McDaniels and Jalen Warren.

He is survived by: his children, Reginald Payton (Raphaela) of El Dorado, Aaron Govan III (Shirkella) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Cynthia Govan Hodges of Monticello and Marlene Sanchez of Maumelle, Arkansas; his siblings, Betty Yarbough (Albert) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bennie Earl Govan (Faye) of Huttig and James Edward Govan (Charlene) of Huttig, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Joshua, Shanae (Drew), Spencer (Ashley), Kyelah, Kaylon, Jaylynn, Reginald Jr., Brandon, Promise, Christian, Deon, Hannah, Zaylen, Chloe, Alexia and Gabrialle.
