He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Nathaniel and Matilda Bernice Sandifer; his nephew Bobby Silvester; and his great-niece Meghan Elaine Mobley. He is survived by: his sisters, Beverly Sandifer Baldwin (Jim) and Mitzi Sandifer Horn (Melvin).

Jerry retired in 2011, during this time he struggled with Parkinson's Disease, thus he requested all memorials please be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation or Marrable Hill Chapel.
