He was predeceased by : his parents, William Proffitt and Agnes Proffitt; and his siblings, Ray Proffitt, Billy Proffitt, Winfred Proffitt, Karen Proffitt and Betty-Jean Robertson.

He is survived by : his granddaughter Kristen Barker-Proffitt; his wife Beverly Manning Proffitt; his children, Cindy Smith (Tony), Teresa Proffitt and Terry Minchow-Proffitt (Sandy); and his grandchildren, Moira Reeves (Donnie), Tiffany Fisher (Jake), Laura Wise, James Wise (Lili), Darryl Wise (Karyn) and Michael Wise. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-eight great and great-great-grandchildren; six siblings; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
