“I was saddened to learn of Carl's passing and wish to honor his memory with a tribute.
 In my capacity as an elementary principal/district curriculum director at Brandon Valley, it was my good fortune to work alongside Carl and have him as a mentor. He was a superintendent whom I admired and respected. Carl demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, marked by his integrity and vision. Mr. Holt was very sincere and fostered a cooperative and supportive work environment at the Brandon Valley School District. He believed in me and during the time we were associated, we saw Brandon Valley attain the highest state test scores. Mr. Holt was a class act who imbued the school district with decency by adhering to the Golden Rule.
