He is survived by: his sister Loretta Carpenter (John); his wife Lori Mason; his children, Jamie Elam (Brett), Lacey Estep (Zach), Tess Bleich (Cody), Stanley Mason and Scott Mason (Shree); and his grandchildren, Stokes, Stetson, Ellie, Finn, Zayne, Korbin, Dylan, Josh, Troy, Holly and Pamella.
In his later years, James bravely faced a seven-year journey with Alzheimer's disease.
