She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Robert "Swede" McCoy and D'Oracy Hale Hankerson McCoy. She is survived by: her son George Christopher Gracey (Theresa); her granddaughter London Charlotte Bee Gracey of Washington, DC; her children, Adrian Robert Lacy of Arlington, TX and Rosie Beaman (Greg) of Alexandria, VA; her granddaughter Gwendolyn Stella Mae Beaman; her sisters, Molly McCoy Tway (Bob) of San Antonio, TX and Becky Quinton (Leith); her nephews, Luke Quinton and Josh Quinton; and her niece Cassidy Quinton of St. John's, Newfoundland.. She is also survived by grand-nieces and nephews, loving Friends and caregivers.
The pinnacle of her career was honored with a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching by the National Science Foundation in 2002.
