He was predeceased by: his parents, Art Brestel and Bernice Brestel. He is survived by: his daughters, Julie Simpson and Christy Shawn; and his extended family, Steve, Kelle Brott, Joel, Susan Brott, Chris, Flo Ray and Jane Ray. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
