He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Cathey and Dorothy Cathey; his siblings, Bob, Janice and Keith; and his grandson Gabriel Adam Hesslen.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Lou Fry; his daughters, Christy Hesslen and Liz Huff; his grandchildren, Hope Harris, Hannah Pierce, Ben Huff and Elijah Huff; his great grandchildren, Simeon Huff, Olympia Huff, Remi Harris, Walker Harris, Aubrey Pierce and Merit Pierce; and his grandsons, Jabin Huff, Hunter Hesslen, Will Harris and Kyle Pierce.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the West Ark Church of Christ (900 N Waldron Rd, Fort Smith, AR 72903). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dan's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Morrilton Children's Home, two causes that were close to his heart.
