Lura J Moody Obituary

We are sad to announce that on September 20, 2025, at the age of 82, Lura J Moody of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, James Witt and Verene McKinney Witt; her husband Robert J. "Butch" Moody; and her brother Kenneth Witt. She is survived by: her children, Jill Ledbetter (Robert) of Oklahoma, Sondi Catsavis (George) of Fort Smith and Chris Moody (Emily) of Fort Smith; her siblings, June Rogers of Scranton, Roxie Etzkorn of Dardanelle, Arkansas and James Lee Witt of Dardanelle; her grandchildren, Landen Ledbetter (Tarah), Gunnar Moody (Cris), Logan Ledbetter, Zach Moody, Blake Farmer, Maggie Farmer and Lexie Mitchell (Erik); her sister-in-law Sondie Callaway of San Diego; Michael Robert Ledbetter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Edwards Funeral Home (201 N 12th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Saint Boniface Catholic Church (1820 N B St, Fort Smith, AR 72901). A burial was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery (522 Garland Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901).
