He was predeceased by: his parents, Maria "Nuni" Antonia Acosta and Alberto Manuel Acosta; and his siblings, Ida Santana, Amelia Acosta and Elliott Acosta.
He is survived by: his wife Penny Acosta; his children, Michelle Acosta, Kermit Acosta (Kelly), Nilo Jr. Acosta (Amy) and Alesha Moore (David); and his brothers, Danny Acosta and Mario Acosta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was involved with SWAT, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Special Olympics, the Arkansas Sheriffs' Association, March of Dimes, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Fulfill A Dream.
