She was predeceased by: her parents, Arlington Hughes and Elma Hughes (Oliver); her husband Odes E. Gibson; her brother Arlton "Sonny" Hughes; and her grandson-in-law Evan Backers.
She is survived by: her daughter Rhonda Whelchel (Gibson); her granddaughters, Ariel Harlin (David), Ashlyn Whelchel (Joey Barker) and Alexis Backers; her great grandchildren, Emmett, Evan and Nora; and her brother James Hughes. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pentecostal Church Building Fund, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the National Air Disaster Foundation (NADF).
