We announce the death of Erma Jean Helms of Garfield, Arkansas, who passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 93. Erma will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Erma will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Erma will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Erma’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jim Moon and Effie Moon; her husband Robert Maurice Helms; and her son Robert Franklin Helms. She is survived by: her children, Maurice Helms (Nancy) of Garfield and Val Biesiot (Dan) of Bentonville; her sisters, Wanda Williams of Seligman, MO and Joyce Catron of Cassville, MO; and her grandchildren, Eric Helms and Candy Helms of Garfield. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the New Prospect Baptist Church (19200 Gann Ridge Rd, Garfield, AR 72732).
