He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Phillips and Loretta Phillips; his daughter Brenda Markcum; and his stepson Eric Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Reba Phillips; and his children, Tonia Markcum (Jamie), Debra Schafer (John), Vivian Markcum, Selena Phillips and Michael Phillips Jr.. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; a host of family and friends.
