She was predeceased by : her parents, Claude Smith and Marian Smith (Fletcher); her husband Sammy Houston Watters; and her siblings, Lee Roy Smith, Margaret East, Betty Griffin, James "Sparky" Smith and Joe Don Smith.

She is survived by : her children, Sammy David Watters (Doreen), Joyce Melugin (Danny) and Patricia Kirksey. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
