He was predeceased by : his parents, Bobbie Davis Williamson and William Curtis Kirkland, Sr.; his stepfather Claude "Shorty" Williamson; his siblings, Patricia Hale and William "Bill" Kirkland, Jr.; and his parents-in-law, Clyde and Imogene Mitchell.

He is survived by : his wife Lafran Mitchell Kirkland of Hamburg; his son Daniel Evan Kirkland; his sisters, Linda Stewart (David) of Rio Rancho, Pam Heeter (Rick) of Seneca, Annette Vincent (Scott) of Hartstown and Joyce Kirkland of Abita Springs, Louisiana; his sister-in-law Barbara Kirkland (Mary Joyce Gifford) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his nephew Kenny Clarke; and his nieces, Tammy Andrews and Courtney Tallant.
