He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Hefley and Sybil Edwards Hefley; his in-laws, Troy Sr. and Mable Platt; his siblings-in-law, Gene and Dortha Manuel; his nephew Stanley Manuel; and his niece Kayle Jeffery.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Hefley of Harrison; his children, Joey Hefley of Devine and Cindy Magness (Mike) of Harrison; his grandchildren, Tori Magness of Harrison and Joseph Magness of Baltimore, Maryland; his brothers, Billy Ed (Wilma Hefley) and Joe (Regena Hefley); and his brother-in-law Troy Platt, Jr. (Rebecca). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
