She was predeceased by: her parents, Abraham Akel and Vera Akel (Caplena); and her sister-in-law Shelby Jean Akel. She is survived by: her great-niece Grace; her brother Dr. Abraham "Abe" Akel Jr.; her friends, Mary Bickerstaff, Linda Bauer, Gene Brantley and Ralph Showers; and her cousin Jimmy Ray Hopper. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and her beloved cats.
