She was predeceased by : her parents, Thomas B. Smith and Mary Jane Smith; her husband John R. "Dick" McCowan; her nephew Drew Smith; and her brother-in-law James E. McCowan of Austin, Texas..

She is survived by : her children, Mike McCowan and Sandra McCowan; her brothers, Tommy Smith (Charlene), Joe Ed Smith of Hot Springs and Gary Smith (Sandy) of Arlington; and her sister-in-law Susan Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Upward Basketball or the Hospice Home Care Tribute of Life Foundation.
