He was predeceased by: his mother Elizabeth Esque Tarkington; and his brothers, Bob Tarkington and Jerry Tarkington. He is survived by: his father Robert Wilson Tarkington; his wife Janet Swafford Tarkington; his son Scott Tarkington; his daughter-in-law Christy Tarkington; and his grandchildren, Megan Johnson (Brandon Johnson) and Samuel Tarkington. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
