He was predeceased by : his parents, Oris Winter Short and Josie Preston Short; his wife Juanita Short; his daughter Robin Delaine Conway; and his siblings, Lorene Deckard, Paul, Benny and Billy Short.

He is survived by : his sons, David Short (Connie) of El Dorado and Danny Short of Felsenthal; his sister Ruby Lee Cameron of Texas; his grandchildren, Wendi Golmon (Landon) and Luke Short (Rosemary) of El Dorado; and his great grandchildren, Dakota Short, Wesley Short and David Golmon.
