He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas S. Jr. Reed and Francis "Edith" A. Reed; his daughter Lanita Kay Reed; his stepmother Olga Reed; and his sister Charlotte Reed Hill.

He is survived by: his wife Laveta Reed; his stepsister Sallie Bonner; his daughters, Kelly Reed and Tonya Rushin (Brent); and his granddaughter Hanna Rushin.
