He was predeceased by: his parents, Doy Brasel and Oza Mae Brasel (Carter); his siblings, John Buddy Brasel and Ruby Hamilton (Brasel); and his daughter-in-law Deanna Brasel (Wilson).
He is survived by: his wife Lura Jean Brasel (Pierce); his son James Paul (Shelly Brasel); his grandchildren, Chelsea Dee Jean Brasel, Holden Dean (Lexus Brasel) and Lauryn Deshae (Lane Houston); his great grandchildren, Joshua Dean Brasel, Benaiah James Houston and April Ledford; and his sister Cynthia Faye Monday. He is also survived by 7 nephews, 3 nieces, and many dear friends.
