He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Oscar Bateman and Bessie Orlena Dickey Bateman; and his siblings, Frances Lorton, Billie Gleich, Mary Scroggins, Lee Roy Bateman, Donald Bateman and Raymond Bateman.

He is survived by: his wife Virgina Aleda Mills Bateman of Jerusalem; his children, Barry Bateman (Mallika) of Knoxville, Arkansas and Corinne Keeton (Matt) of Jerusalem; his grandchildren, Jessie Keeton (Alyssia), Makenna Keeton (Casey Jones), Shelby Bateman and Shannon Bateman; and his siblings, Mae Flowers (Robert), Shirley Morin, Henry Bateman (Pam) and Tommy Bateman (Gail).
