He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace A. Smith and Etta Smith. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Smith (Strickland); his children, Brian Smith (Candy), Jarrod Smith (Amanda) and Crystall Merlino (John); his grandchildren, Kourtney Smith, Harlie Smith, BJ Smith, Brayden Smith, Sophie Merlino, Ian Merlino and Marcus Merlino; and his siblings, Octavius Smith, Eva Harden, Lorna Ward and Marietta Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Steve's honor be made to the Nettleton Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
