He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Gott and Dorothy Gott (Barfield); his son Richard Gott; and his brothers, Melvin and Orville Gott.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Gott (Whitten); his children, Vernon Gott (Darlene Gott), RaNae Hill (Dale Hill), Gene Gott (Candy Gott), Cynthia Boyd (Robert Boyd) and Kevin Richardson (Amber Richardson); and his daughter-in-law Dolly Mitchell. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
