She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmore Hartsfield and Estelle Hartsfield; her husband Freeman Leo Smith; her daughter Barbara Jean Wallace; and her brothers, Roland Hartsfield, Kenneth Hartsfield and Bobby Ray Hartfield.
She is survived by: her children, William Hampton Wallace (Phyllis), James Roland Wallace (Vickie), Jimmy Lloyd Turner (Sherry), Sondra "Katye" Kaye Ayers (Dwayne) and Lisa Leigh Rushing; and her siblings, Leon Hartsfield and Jeannie Eastwood. She is also survived by fourteen Grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.
