He is survived by : his wife Bonnie Ahrens of Lamar, Arkansas; his sons, Shelby Ahrens (Martha) of Lamar, Arkansas and Corey Ahrens (Alisha) of Lamar, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Kalea of Lamar, Arkansas, Delaney of Lamar, Arkansas, Kaydon of Lamar, Arkansas and Daxton of Lamar, Arkansas; and his siblings, Arnold "Arnie" Ahrens, Bonnie Kirshberger (Walt) and Ida Ahrens.

“I just heard of Paul's passing and am heartstruck with sadness. As the retired director of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History (Springdale), I worked with Paul most of my 16 years there. He was the shearer for our annual Sheep-to-Shawl program. Although we sometimes used other folks when Paul couldn't make it, he was always the #1 go-to man and one heck of a great person in explaining sheep and shearing to our elementary-school audiences.
