He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gartner and Mary Magdelana Garter (Hreha); the mother of his children Anita Sanders Gartner; and his son Robert Brian Gartner. He is survived by: his wife Judith Mikles Coffey (Lockheed); his son Charles David Gartner of Orange Park, Florida; and his sisters, Barbara Jean Zoratti of Trenton and Carolyn Frances Collins (Brian) of Thompson Station, Tennessee. He is also survived by family members and friends.

The Western Arkansas Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) began requiring his services full-time.
