She was predeceased by: her husband Carl Smithson; her children, Carl Dean Smithson, Ronald Smithson (Patsy), Kenneth Smithson (Joyce), Velma Whitley (Bud) and Louise Gentry (Mike); her sons-in-law, Jim Whitley and Ed Owens; her husband Clint Stem; and her parents, Clyde Boyd and Sue Boyd.
She is survived by: her children, Richard Smithson (Shirley) of Van Buren, Linda Owens of Lavaca and Roger Smithson (Sandra) of Lavaca; her daughter-in-law Helen Smithson; and her sisters-in-law, Joy Saucier of Lavaca and Etta "Ginger" Smithson of Lavaca.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (100 W Main St, Lavaca, AR 72941). A celebration of life was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to First Lavaca Building Fund.
