He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Sparks and Zettie Louise Sparks; his wife Joyce Sparks; his granddaughter Ashley Sparks; and his siblings, Frances Roberts, Rosie Peterson, Willmath Anderson, Millard, Louie and Drury Sparks.
He is survived by: his children, Carl Sparks (Judy), Joy Taylor, Bobbie Pinkerton (Randy), Glenda Dye (Jack), Debra Dawson (Tony) and Melisa Ward (Tom); and his siblings, Nona Bivens, Barbara Colling, Larry Sparks, Kathy Addison and Paula McArthur. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
