She was predeceased by: her son Daniel Ward, Jr.; her grandsons, Jamien Phillips and Jaylon Phillips; her parents, David Blackmon and Erma Craig; and her siblings, David Blackmon, Larry Blackmon, Margaret Victorian and Sandra Craig.
She is survived by: her children, Mechann Akins, Kimberly Sanford (Chet) and Quinton Kelley; her siblings, Wilma Walker, Phyllis Muhammad, Sharon Jefferies, Ann Blackman, Melvin Craig, Byron Blackmon, Carl Craig, Donald Craig, Harvey Barton, Tyler Blackman and David Blackman; and her close friend Keron Winfrey. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
