He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Harry Steelman and Emma Steelman; his wife Carolyn; his children, Sara Steelman and Hal Steelman; his grandchildren, Jason Fields, Amy Reaves (Jason) of Bauxite and Houston Steelman (Jenny) of Hammond, Louisiana; his great grandchildren, Tyler Fields and Evan Reaves; and his brother-in-law Bob Corley (Chalona Corley) of Arizona. He was also cherished by 21 great-nephews, nieces, 9 nephews/nieces, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers: Coach Harold "Hal" Steelman Memorial Scholarship at Lonoke High School, Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock, or Wounded Warrior Project.
