“I was sad to discover the passing of my past boss at my first teaching job at Horace Mann Junior High in 1996, while visiting CALS downtown. I saw her photo while working with a student who is doing a National History Day project. In 1996, I was a German teacher from Dover and I commuted from there to Little Rock everyday. I was so impressed with Ms. Lacey. She had a presence about her that commanded respect from the students in the hallway. Soft spoken with strong thoughts is how I would describe her. I had always planned to try to get in touch with her again but I always seemed to have many other things going on in my my life. I returned to LR schools in 2012 and I actually used her hand written review of my teaching while under her leadership, which held quite a bit of weight in helping me land that job. She was a woman that I was proud to have known and her positive impressions remain with me to this day. May God Bless her family and grant her quick entrance into Heaven.
