He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick August Kahler III and Janet Gregory Kahler; and his sister Carol Kahler Cunningham (Julia Pemberton Kahler). He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Sherrill; his daughter Jean Kahler (Jessica Rowe); and his grandchildren, Graham and Julia Kahler-Rowe. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Doctors Without Borders, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, the National Organization for Rare Disorders, and the Nature Conservancy.
