He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Faye Matthews; his parents, Nathaniel Nolen and Dorothy Nolen; his stepfather John Bazziel; and his siblings, Mary Frances "Butch" Clegg, Dewayne Nolen, Jessie "Bubba" Hall and Joe Henry Nolen.
He is survived by: his sons, Nathan "Champ" Nolen, Jr. (Misty), Reginald Nolen and Ryan Smith (Aaliyah); his grandchildren, Rhondon Nolen, Jordan Xavier Smith and Noah Nolen; his great grandchild Carter Nolen; his friend Joanne Harris; and his siblings-in-law, Leonard Clegg, Sheila Nolen, Margaret "Marge" Lewis (Ralph), Esther "Rene" Richardson (Leon) and Sandra "San" Matthews.
