He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. McKnight and Sophia Lovell McKnight; and his brothers, Harvey McKnight and Jimmy McKnight. He is survived by: his stepdaughter Erica Harris (David); his sisters, Frances Hinkle, Susan Kennedy (Richard) and Syvia Cole (Chuck); and his close friend Darren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
