He was predeceased by: his parents, Elnora Cooksey and Acie B. Cooksey Sr.; and his siblings, Acie Cooksey, Dorothy Falls, Dorothy Cooksey-Brown, Lucille Cooksey, Magnolia Phillips, Patsy Cooksey, Billy Cooksey (Martha) and Phillip Cooksey (Alisa).
He is survived by: his daughter Rani Cooksey; his grandchildren, Tyler Pounds, Paris Pounds and London Pounds; and his siblings, Mary Cooksey Smith (James), Ruby Cooksey, Faye Cooksey-Abernathy, Carolyn Cooksey-Dixon, Ronnie Cooksey and Joyce Cooksey-McDaniel (John).
