He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clarence and Gladys Marie Thompkins; his son Rick Thompkins; and his siblings, Johnny Thompkins, Ed Thompkins, Lowell Thompkins and Clarine.
He is survived by: his wife Dolores Thompkins; his children, Mike Thompkins and Shelia Cox; and his sister Edith Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
