He was predeceased by: his parents, James Murphy Herring and Azelea Kimbro Herring; his wife Genieve; his daughter Debbie Herring Donaldson; his brothers, Damon Herring and Bartley Herring; his grandson Christopher Trantham; his great grandchild Waylon Moore; and his sister-in-law Joan Herring.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Trantham (George), Kathy Bailey (Tom) and Barney Herring, Jr. (Viola); his son-in-law Ronnie Donaldson; his sister Nancy Sanson (Jerry); and his sister-in-law Linda Herring. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren.
