He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Gilbert and Cecil Gilbert; and his brothers, Thomas Gilbert Jimmy Gilbert, Larry Gilbert and Clyde Stewart.
He is survived by: his sisters, Marilyn Crabtrey-Morrilton (Ernest) and Carolyn Crabtrey-Oppelo (Benny). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
