He was predeceased by : his parent O. E. Ray; his stepfather Luther Vanover; his stepsiblings, Freddy Vanover and Lola Pepew; his brother-in-law Boyce Laire; and his nephew-in-law Gary Steelman.
He is survived by : his children, Sabrina Smith of Lake Jackson, Yvonn Scott of Angleton, Texas and Brian Ray of Arkansas; his grandchildren, Caleb Smith, Makayla Scott, Hope Smith and Creed Scott; his great grandchild Huntley Scott; his siblings, Clara Jean Laire, Linda Turner (Donald), Brenda Brown and Donald Ray; his stepbrother Larry Vanover (Debbie); and his nieces and nephews, Ronda Griffith (Leslie), Garry Turner (Patty), Melissa Steelman, Koby Ray (Janie) and Eli Ray. He is also survived by many other extended family and friends.
