He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Motes and Uvelia Motes (Wilson); his wife Wilma Motes; his sons, Wayne and Jack Motes; his siblings, Ella Mae Stroud, Hazel Owens, Hershel Motes, David Edward Motes, Johnny Motes and Fern Knapp; and his great grandchild Radley Motes.
He is survived by: his children, Roberta Wilkins, James Motes, Vicky Landers-Watkins, Jessie Motes, Marty Motes and Larry Motes; and his siblings, Melvie Kleinschrodt, Edna Williford, Wanda Fortich, Olivee Watters, Thelma Brown, Genice Cardenas and Paul Motes. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
